MagForceX® Reaches New Innovation Benchmark with Latest Patent Filings

Mai 20, 2026

At a time when manufacturers across the globe are racing to develop the next generation of electrification, energy, and industrial technologies, innovation is increasingly becoming the differentiator between companies that follow markets and those that help shape them.

That reality was on display recently at the Essex Solutions MagForceX® Innovation Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where employees gathered to recognize a major milestone for the organization’s research and development efforts: the filing of over 50 patent applications since opening in 2019.

The milestone was commemorated during a special ceremony held at the facility honoring the cross-functional teams behind the filings.

The inventors recognized included Matt Leach, Vice President, North America Innovation Center; Russell Post, Director, Equipment R&D; Tamana McFarland, Technical Director, Automotive, and Frederick McFarland, Senior Chemist. While not part of the signing event, the process for filing could not be completed without the efforts of Robert Hornung, Esq. and formerly Rhett White, Esq., who both have been instrumental in the granting of each patent. Their technical knowledge combined with their legal expertise has been an outstanding benefit to the company and its IP strategy.

The leadership team noted that the patents directly support the company’s broader commitment to disruptive innovation initiatives designed to advance performance, manufacturing capability, and next-generation solutions for customers across the energy, automotive, and industrial sectors.

“These filings represent far more than a number,” said Leach. “They reflect years of curiosity, experimentation, persistence, and collaboration from incredibly talented teams across our organization. Innovation does not happen in isolation. It happens when people are empowered to challenge assumptions, think differently, and pursue ideas that can genuinely move industries forward.”

Leach added that the Innovation Center continues to play a critical role in helping Essex Solutions remain responsive to rapidly evolving customer demands while also positioning the company for future growth opportunities tied to electrification and infrastructure expansion.

The ceremony itself served not only as recognition of technical achievement, but also as a reminder of the increasingly strategic role innovation plays within advanced manufacturing organizations.

“Every patent filing represents countless hours of development, testing, refinement, and problem-solving,” said Post. “What makes them especially meaningful is that they are rooted in real-world manufacturing challenges that are tied to customer needs. The ‘application mindset’ that the team embraces is what continues to drive meaningful progress inside the Innovation Center.”

Since opening in 2019, the MagForceX® Innovation Center has continued expanding its capabilities and influence across the business, supporting initiatives tied to advanced magnet wire technologies, manufacturing processes, equipment development, and customer collaboration.

Both Leach and Post noted that while patents are one visible measure of progress, the larger objective remains creating technologies and solutions that strengthen customer partnerships, improve operational performance, and help shape the future of electrification and energy systems.

As global demand for energy infrastructure, electric mobility, and industrial efficiency continues to rise, Essex Solutions views innovation not simply as a department or initiative, but as a long-term business imperative.

The filing of these patents marks another milestone in that ongoing effort.
